Beyond the 956 | Things to do in Las Vegas

Sometimes what happens in Vegas....becomes great travel advice!

Whether you've visited Las Vegas, Nevada a dozen times or are planning your very first visit, check out these tips to help you have a great time!

1. Book a stay near the Las Vegas Strip

If you plan to visit numerous casinos and enjoy the nightlife, then consider staying at a hotel near the Las Vegas Strip. Although they may be a little pricier on your wallet up front, you will end up saving on transportation costs like Uber, Lyft, or taxis as you can conveniently walk up and down the famous road.

2. Use the Monorail

During our visits to Las Vegas, we enjoy using the Monorail to get from casino to casino on The Strip! For just $13 for a Day Pass, we conveniently go from the MGM Station all the way to the Sahara Station.

On our latest trip to Vegas this summer we stayed at the Westgate Resort (which is a good way from The Strip on foot), but were able to take the Monorail throughout our stay. The Monorail offers riders the opportunity to navigate the Las Vegas Strip in less than 15 minutes at speeds of up to 50 mph. It offers mobile tickets and several fare types to suit travel needs, from a one-way trip to an unlimited-ride pass.

3. Book a Gondola Ride at the Venetian

Want to do something romantic when in Vegas? Try an outdoor Gondola Ride at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas! Due to the stifling summer Nevada heat (115+ degrees right now), we highly recommend you book yours in the evening. You will also get to see Las Vegas come alive at night!

To book, simply visit the Venetian when in Vegas. Rides start at $34 per person.

4. Spend the day or night Circa Stadium Swim

Offering six pools on three levels, Circa Stadium Swim offers a great to cool off from the Nevada heat while enjoying great drinks and views from a 40-foot tall high-definition screen.

It's open Monday-Sunday from 8:00 am - 11:00 pm. Reserve your spot ahead of time!

5. Experience Fremont Street

Located in historic downtown Las Vegas, Nevada, Fremont Street Experience is a five-block entertainment district. Among the highlights of Fremont Street Experience is Viva Vision, the world’s largest video screen. This must-see screen is 1,375 feet long, 90 feet wide and is suspended 90 feet above the pedestrian mal right below. The screen has nearly 50 million LED lights and a 600,000-watt sound system.

In addition to Viva Vision, Fremont Street offers access to numerous casinos, restaurants, shops, bars, the SlotZilla Zipline, and free live concerts. Most recently they brought back their popular Downtown Rocks Concert Series which will feature artists like the Plain White T's, Steven Adler from the Guns N' Roses, Three Doors Down, and Generation Radio, to name a few.

6. Shop at Grand Canal Street

First opened in 1999, the Grand Canal Shoppes is an upscale shopping mall located inside The Venetian Hotel & Casino and The Palazzo on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The mall features indoor canals, where gondolas take people around the mall.

7. Fine Dining with a show at The Mayfair Supper Club

Located inside the Bellagio, The Mayfair Supper Club offers an incredible dining experience with an awesome show! From their crispy Coconut Shrimp and mouthwatering Truffle Pasta to their exquisite Prime Rib and delicious desserts, their menu offers a delectable culinary experience. The service is also superb!

Pro Tip: To ensure you get great seats (either right by the Bellagio Fountains or near the show stage) aim to make your reservations at least a month in advance!

8. Enjoy a meal at the Peppermill Lounge

If you would like to enjoy some local favorite spots on the Strip, look no further than having a delicious meal at the Peppermill Lounge. Opened for over 40 years, this famous local spot is a great location for breakfast, lunch, dinner. It's also been featured in various Hollywood films like "Casino" with Nicolas Cage and music videos.

9. Plan a trip to the Grand Canyon

If the Grand Canyon is on your travel bucket list, we highly recommend you take advantage of how close it is to Las Vegas to plan a trip! Just a 2-hr drive from Vegas, the Grand Canyon offers majestic views you must see at least once in your life.
